Hosios Loukas,near the village of Steiri in Boeotia,is one of the great masterpieces of Middle Byzantine architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Site.It was founded in the 10th century around the hermitage and tomb of Saint Luke of Steiris,a local ascetic and healer.
